What were women doing with their skin back in the Middle Ages? I wouldn't know but I can tell you something about MY middle age: there is no way to avoid serums. Listen to me. Listen. Serums. Se-rums.
I don't know when it happened. I was doing fine, I was bobbing my head above the water nicely, I was getting compliments on the line of "oh but you don't have wrinkles", "you don't look your age" and then, all of a sudden, it was all gone.
Serums. That's what was missing.

Snail snot seems to be doing wonders for me, thank you very much.
It was my mentor again who said that word first. I mentioned her before. She's 52 looks 20 years younger. Didn't even know serums existed - now I can't live without them. Perhaps a mental thing after all but still, my skin feels much better after serums. If I don't use any I feel like going to sleep with wet socks on. Just not good.
Why are they important?
Listen to this blurb from Google Search:
"Serums include active ingredients that bring antioxidants to the skin and restore cell growth. They also act as a brightening treatment, an anti-aging prevention and can help with skin complaints such as dry or oily skin."
Well, I do complain of dry skin, I do.
My friend recommended Herbagen serums, which have snail snot in them but apparently a very active one. Going against all my senses that screamed "run away", I disgustedly started using it. Of course, she was right. My skin does feel better, more elastic and ready to receive the creams.
Oh. I see. You thought serums were enough. You innocent soul.
No. The Middle Ages come with enhanced requests for more and more products.
Luckily, I have another friend that is a cosmetics consultant and gets free samples on a regular basis, shifting them nicely my way. You can envy me, I have good friends.
I do have to say Herbagen are not breaking the bank, and neither is the Buffett from the strangely cursed line called The Ordinary.
I cannot speak for other brands, I am sure there are other good serums out there and if you do know of a good one, please share. Looking forward to some baby foreskin or goat's testicles in wine serum. Bring them on!
Do you know what vitamins to take in your middle age? No? Check out this post.
